Repairing laptop screen?

I was doing work on my laptop, and I accidentally dropped it on the floor. About 1/4th of the screen is still visible, but the other 3/4th is white and blueish with a couple of lines. The computer appears to be running fine, as everything that normally displays, still does...it's just the screen/picture that appears to be damaged. Is there anyway I can manually fix this, or does it need to see a repair shop asap? I'm a college student, so I need the laptop badly, but I'm a little tight on money right now, so I am scared to death at the idea of potentially paying a lot of money to get this repaired. Please help...thanks
