Tampons!? I need help! Please!?

I've never used tampons before & have only had a period now for 8 months. I have to go on a trip friday & we're going to be swimming everyday for several hours. How do I insert one, what size & brand would be good, & im 12 so...please help me. Insertion is what I need help with the most Thanks. (:
